NuBotanik body scrub review

I still remember when I was in middle school, I used to steal my mom’s St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub and use it on my skin (because I wanted to feel a little bit more “Womanly.”)

Today, there are so many various body scrubs in the market; some are made out of salt, sugar, fruits, bamboo and even coconuts! I  remember when I was a Sophomore year in college ( I make it seem like it was 10 years ago, but actually, I graduated last year, haha), my AMAZING roommate Amber Hendry (IG @amberchristinaaa) ran into my room ecstatically and whipped out this brown zip block bag saying, “Joo(liana), look at this! It’s my body scrub and it is made out of coffee!!”

“What? A body scrub made out of coffee? I thought coffee was only used to wake lazy, sleepy, sluggish people up in the morning. Not used as a body scrub!” I replied slightly surprised and confused at the same time.

Well ladies, if you think this is cool, you have to check this out.

I was looking online to find body scrubs because I hate how dry and scaly my body feels after the cold winter! Beach season is (literally) right around the corner and the last thing I want to show off is my ashy arms and legs (yeah, I am totally going to find a boyfriend with these legs).

I was browsing through my Instagram page and then stumbled across this product called NuBotanik Skin Care (IG @Nubotanik). Then I thought to myself, “Oh, it’s like the same thing that my roommate Amber was talking about… some weird coffee scrub.”

Well, I was WRONG.

The Instagram bio tag line says, “With Potent Coffeeberry Brands Whole Coffee Fruit.”

Hmm. Wait, what does that mean?

So, of course, me being a little fashion and health guru, I decided to a little scientific research on this product. Most of the “Coffee Scrubs” that you find online are made out of coffee bean (like the ones you grind to make coffee in the morning). Well, Nubotanik actually uses the actual berry, also known as “Coffeeberry,” which comes from the whole coffee fruit.

So, what is the difference??

Coffeeberry actually has more unique skin loving antioxidants.

Alright, let me break it down for you, ladies.

Fruit Juice cleansing has been a popular and healthy phenomenon that’s been growing in the United States. However, it is actually healthier for you to eat a whole fruit or drink a whole fruit smoothie instead of drinking fruit and vegetable juice because juicing eliminates all of the healthy fibers, vitamins and nutrients because it has been “processed.”

The same idea is applied to Nubotanik Skin Care Scrub! Since we are using the “Whole Coffee Fruit,” (which is NOT processed) the powerful antioxidants and polyphenols (the good organic stuff wink* wink*) really helps the skin feel softer, smoother and rejuvenated.

So, I decided to use this product on myself!

I opened the package after I took a shower.

“Oh my gosh,” I immediately gasped.

I was amazed of how AMAZING the product smelled. I mean, I thought to myself… “This is probably what heaven smells like. If not, God I am making a personal request that if I do go to heaven, I want my surroundings to smell like this... For the rest of my life.”

I know Bath and Body Works is notorious for good-smelling skin care products, but this little scrub BLEW them out of the WATER. It is a sensual aroma mixed between pear and flowers. You would think since this scrub is made out of coffee, it would smell like coffee…

Side Bar: Now that I think about it, I would hate to smell like black coffee. What if you are on a date with this really hot guy and he says, “Man, you look so beautiful and your skin is ridiculously soft, but why do you smell like a Starbucks Skinny Latte Frappuccino?”

The scrub is very moist (but not watery), oily and grainy. The granules in the package are different shades of black and light brown which reminds you of the volcanic beach sand found in Thailand (if you haven’t been, you should!).

It says that you should wet your body, then lather the scrub and massage your body in a circular motion. Surprisingly, even though the granules are very grainy, it is still gentle to the skin. Due to my sensitive skin, I was worried that that the scrub would irritate it, but it didn’t! (yay!)

Then you leave it on your body for 2 -3 minutes, so the oil nourishes your skin and then wash it off with warm water.

After I dried my body, I was surprised at how soft my skin felt. I have fairly soft skin to begin with because I am Asian (it is a common trait amongst Asian people), but this took it to a whole another level. I loved how smooth and rejuvenated my skin felt. It wasn’t too dry and too oily. It was just right. My roommate actually touched my skin and she was amazed at how soft and smooth my skin was.

I am so glad I tried this product because it is the BOMB DOT COM

The only thing I do advise you is that if you are using the scrub inside the bathtub, make sure you have a shower with an adjustable handle to clean the excess scrub off of the shower tub or a small cup because it can get a little messy in there! Other than that, I would give an A+ (or a 10/10) for this product review.
