Five Simple Steps To A Healthier Lifestyle | KNOWSTYLE
We can all agree that people are constantly finding ways to lose weight and to be healthy. Whether you are on a special diet or working out 6 days a week, we are always looking for the new health trend.
So I decided to research and find some ways to live a healthier lifestyle. Here are some facts I have gathered just for you.
1. Embrace SPF infused skin products.
Acccording to Huffington Post, here are five reasons why you should wear sun screen:
1. The ozone layer is depleting and your body needs shielding from harmful rays.
2. Skin cancer rates are on the rise and sunscreen has been proven to decrease the development of skin cancer.
3. It helps to prevent facial brown spots and skin discolorations.
4. It also helps to reduce the appearance of facial red veins and blotchiness.
5. It slows down the development of wrinkled, premature aging skin.
Vitamin D is good for you. The sun is good for you. However, too much exposure to sun can be harmful to your body. As Americans, we are attracted to that "Beyonce lookin' skin glow," but the reality is, too much exposure to the sun without protection can cause skin cancer (eeek, now that doesn't sound too good).
Instead, why don't you try the products below?
And it actually works! However, we all hate it when our palms turn orange after applying tanning lotion on your body. Here are some ways to remove sunless tanner from your hands.
2. It is never too late to start taking care of your skin.
The natural way of course. People these days are so wrapped up around plastic surgery and botox, and the majority of 20 something year olds are looking into getting botox as a "preventative."
Well, you should definitely read " 14 Things I Wish I Knew Before Getting Botox."
But the reality is, you don't want to over-do botox to the point that you can't move your face and it just looks awkward because you look like you have a RBF (Resting B*tch Face).
However, there are alternative and organic methods where you can start taking care of your face like Glowgenix!
So, what is this? I found this facial product that has been featured in People, CNN and Cosmopolitan.
Glowgenix uses an all natural formulation for a complete 2-step beauty system designed to inject all the powerful yet natural ingredients your skin needs to look great without the needle.
The admirable qualities about this product is that it is affordable as well as it has a lot of valuable nutrients for our skin. There are natural ingredients that stimulate collagen production, loaded with antioxidants that protects and promotes anti-aging. Finally, it contains red algae, rosemary and balm mint extract which is also healthy for the skin because it keeps it moisturized and oil-free.
3. Low-Calorie, Low-Carb Alcoholic Drinks.
We all have to admit that (for those who are over 21 years old) some of us love to drink by the pool or the beach with some friends. However, most of us are concerned about the carb levels and calories that come with alcoholic beverages. So, I have found some healthy alcoholic brands with the lowest calories and carbs, so you can maintain that six-pack abs this summer.
Tito's Hand Made Vodka ( 1 shot = 97 Calories)
"Vodka is a distilled alcoholic drink made from grains, potatoes, soybeans, grapes, rice or sugar beets. Since it’s distilled, technically there shouldn’t be any gluten left in it but there’s always the chance for cross-contamination and whatnot. Because of this, it’s always a good idea to go for a non-grain based vodka such as potato vodka instead of wheat vodka if you’re trying to stick with a strict paleo diet," according to Cross Fit Chica.
Which means that Tito's is way to go because it is actually healthier for you than drinking a bottle of Smirnoff.
Rumhaven (1 Shot = 76.5 Calories)
If you are a big fan of coconuts and Malibu Rum, you have to try this new product. The reason why I believe this is better than Malibu Rum is because it is made with real coconut water and cane sugar. Every ingredient is all natural and not made with flavor extracts. You can't beat that, right?
Michelob Ultra Beer ( 1 beer = 95 Calories)
If you want to stay away from hard liquor, the most bikini friendly beer is Michelob Ultra. It has 2.6 to 5.5 grams of Carbs which is significantly less carbs than other beer brands. On top of that, it will get you drunk if you have enough light beers!
4. Start lovin' them Stair Masters
If you’re looking to burn calories, lose weight and strengthen and tone major muscle groups, stair climbing provides astounding results. In fact, climbing stairs is widely regarded as one of the most efficient and effective cardio and strength building workouts you can do. If you’re willing to put in the work, it provides the results, according to the website StairMasters.
I couldn't agree more. I started doing stairmaster workouts 3-5 times a week and it really works. I've never lost so much weight just doing 20 minutes of stair-masters a day (of course, you have to stretch as well). Try it for yourself!
5. The 80/20 rule.
Drop that high calorie, high carb snack. Drop that slice of pizza or bread.
Yeah, that's what everyone says but the majority of us love CARBS (at least I do). But you don't have to make yourself miserable by not eating the foods you love. Its just being disciplined.
On the weekdays, eat chicken and veggies, then on the weekends, you can have a couple of slices of pizzas and wings. Just make sure the high calorie and carb foods are only consumed on the weekends (along with your alcoholic beverages) and refrain from eating unhealthy on the weekdays. Once you train and build healthy habits, it won't be so hard to say no to that slice of a pizza on a Tuesday evening.
Well, I hope all of the information above is beneficial to you! I know it is nearly impossible to follow all of the right steps, but you can try to incorporate one by one along the way.
